Thank you to every one who has supported Harefield Farm Shop,

We are still open!!! and have just enjoyed the beautiful May sunny weather.

The first week in May is always outstandingly vibrant, the apple blossom was just captivating and the magnolia trees just add that bit of eccentric charm, with their pink petals waving about like gigantic fairy hats. What a lovely two weeks its been.

Planting is under way and carrots, parsnips, broad beans, runner beans, sweet corn, cabbage, purple sprouting broccoli all in the ground, lets hope its a success again this year, fingers crossed, just got to keep on top of the weeds and the moisture..

The purple sprouting broccoli was absolutely delicious, the kids were asking me to go and cut some more, "really tasty".

The local shops and restaurants seem to be into our "ffreedom food approved free range range eggs", and after sampling the "purple sprouting broccoli", they keep asking what vegetables are coming through.."Have you got anything yet?"... well we have actually but only for the family table, cauliflower like you cant believe, so scrummy we cant let go of it! Sorry, but we have planted more of it for next time , just hope it all germinates, cauliflower is a funny thing to deal with, never really can guarante its going to take with us.... however loads of veg to choose from soon.

It really is all hands on deck here at the moment, so bare with me if I take a moment to run from the field to the farm shop to deal with your needs... keeps me fit... the produce is of course worth the wait.... and no air miles....etc, just served from the field..umm... LOVELY.

Thanks again for visiting and hope to see you again soon.

Lucy

An Autumn Opening in October!

Harefield Farm has been selling free range eggs at the farm gate for many years now and we thought that it was time to open the gates a little further and start a “farm shop”.

We are in the very early stages of opening up, and although we also rear cattle, we will not be selling meat quite yet, but we hope to very soon.

We are a family run business, the eldest member of which has lived in Eastcote since 1928, and farmed since the 1940s. Now his grandchildren go to Pattishall school, where he went as a boy. In fact all his grandchildren have the gardening bug and the youngest love playing in the orchard and looking for the best cabbages!

We mainly produce “freedom food approved”, free range eggs, and have 16,000 hens whom all have the right to roam across acres of grassy fields. They have fully automated hen houses and in their homes radios play to keep them amused, not only that but they have dimmer switches on their lights too, for bed time!

The farm shop itself is a much less flamboyant affair, but will be simply selling good quality produce from the farm and other local producers.

From beetroot to milk, we will try to provide you with a local shop that will hopefully one day expand out of the “wooden shed”. Come and have a look when we open in October, we hope to be a good service to the local community diet! We are also very open to any ideas you may have.
This is a great opportunity for us to promote excellent quality local food and share in some of the wonderful fruit and veg grown on the farm too. Really you can taste the difference with home grown produce, this year the sweet carrots have been delicious, and we have runner beans growing in abundance.

We would love you to support our small friendly farm shop and hope that you may come and buy a plant, shrub or even tree too when passing. We are setting up a box scheme for eggs etc, so if you can’t get to us but love good produce we may be able to help!

Any local suppliers welcome……Thank you so much, Lucy, 01327 830735. Lucy.cockram@btinternet.com
